Critical Reflection
Module:
In the beginning of
the module, I mentioned one main communication weakness that I wanted to work
on which was my public speaking abilities in that I speak too fast when I am
nervous. I wanted to work on this skill because I understand how important it
is in the real world from organizing and expressing my ideas in front of people
to the frequent conversations we have with others and how they can positively
or negatively affect the overall message that I am trying to convey. This module
has helped me to improve on my communication skills and build my confidence.
All the times Prof Brad called upon me to read in-front of the whole class
really helps. However, although I found that I have improved by a lot since the
last presentation I did for another module, when it came to the oral
presentation, my nerves still got the better of me and I still was not able
present my topic as well as I had hoped. I know that I have a long way to go, but
with the tips and tricks that I learnt from this module and with lots of
practice, I know I’ll get there.
Project work:
In conclusion, the topics covered in this module have
proven to be immensely beneficial, offering practical insights and skills that
I can readily apply to future projects and endeavors, including my IWSP
commitments where report writing and presentations are crucial. The experiences
gained, from addressing my public speaking weaknesses to collaborating
effectively within a team, have equipped me with invaluable tools for success
in both academic and professional settings. As I continue to refine and apply
these skills, I am confident in my ability to navigate challenges and
contribute meaningfully to any endeavor I undertake.
Thank you, Ryan, for this detailed and insightful reflection.
